Typically, design documents fail to clearly articulate the operating parameters intended by the design engineer. For air distribution and chilled water systems, this unfairly shifts the responsibility to the automation system vendor, and finally to the facility staff, who interpret, implement and operate the building. We believe a detailed sequence of operation is one of the most important elements of the design documents, and should define all operating parameters, including set points, interlocks and operational logic. The sequence of operation, coordinated with Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), will be used for control device installation, system programming and commissioning.
